Description
The Reinhard Mey Special Prize "German-Language Contribution" annually honors an outstanding original composition in the German language – including Söl’ring, Frisian, or Low German – within the framework of the Henner Krogh Promotion Award. Musicians based in Schleswig-Holstein with residence or workplace on Sylt, registered for at least three months, may apply with self-written songs, tunes, or chansons. The special prize, endowed with €3,000, strengthens the diversity of the regional music scene and recognizes creative contributions from individuals presenting their own melody and lyrics or a complete original composition. The independent jury primarily evaluates the authenticity and originality of the works and makes its decision independently of the placement in the main competition.
Participation requires a properly completed registration for the Henner Krogh Promotion Award. Application documents include the completed registration form, a demo tape or demo CD, as well as an introduction video in which the artistic signature of the participants becomes apparent. The binding registration deadline is always announced at least four months before the event. If there are no German-language entries or if no original composition convinces the jury, the special prize may be omitted in the respective year. With the additional prize money, the Henner Krogh Foundation for the Promotion of Sylt Musicians supports linguistic and musical innovation in the region and simultaneously sends a strong signal for cultural identity and artistic originality.
