Description
In accordance with the War Victims’ Welfare Act of 1957, the program provides extensive pension benefits and allowances for war-disabled persons residing in Vienna as well as their relatives. These include a basic pension for a reduction in earning capacity of 20% or more, supplementary pensions and family allowances, allowances for severely disabled persons, as well as care and blindness allowances. Additionally, flat-rate payments are made for increased clothing and laundry expenses, dietary cost subsidies, medical welfare measures, and orthopedic aids. Vocational and social rehabilitation supports participation in the labor market and social life. Survivor’s pensions, death benefits, and the death quarter-year allowance are also part of the range of benefits, ensuring financial security and health insurance coverage for survivors—such as widows, widowers, orphans, and parents.
Eligible for funding are Austrian citizens who suffered service-related injuries in the First or Second World War or are survivors entitled to benefits as relatives of war-disabled persons. A permanent health impairment of at least 20% of earning capacity or membership in the group of survivors is a prerequisite. Applications may be submitted at any time, without limitation or time restriction. The aim of this funding is the continuous safeguarding and further development of social compensation for victims of war-related health damages and their families. Through open application procedures and continuous payments, the measure significantly contributes to stabilizing the living situation of these groups in Vienna.
