Description
The Rotary Design Award of the Rotary Foundation Zeichenakademie Hanau honors outstanding achievements in jewelry, object, and accessory design in Hesse and is endowed with a total of approximately €4,000. Eligible to participate are all pupils and students of the State Zeichenakademie Hanau as well as trainees in the precious metal processing industry in Hesse. Up to three unpublished original works may be submitted in each of the categories jewelry, object, and accessory. An independent jury evaluates the submitted works based on the criteria of innovative design, material-appropriate implementation, forward-looking approaches, as well as the interpretation of design as a means of participation and inclusion.
With this awarded competition, the foundation aims to promote creative thinking and recognize artisanal excellence. At the same time, young designers are encouraged to take responsibility in social processes and shape participation through design. Submission opens a platform where commitment and innovative spirit become visible and are recognized in an appropriate setting. The Rotary Design Award sets impulses for the further development of contemporary design concepts and strengthens the regional cultural and educational location of Hesse by highlighting design as an instrument of social impact.
