Description
The state of Carinthia honors long-standing care and upbringing of foster children with a monthly pension of €205. The grant is aimed at private individuals who have taken on full-time care and upbringing for an uninterrupted period of at least 15 years and who had their main residence in Carinthia during this time. Foster mothers must have reached at least the age of 60, foster fathers the age of 65, and must not receive equivalent benefits from other regional authorities. The funding has been in effect without time limitation since January 1, 2014, and is granted as a subsidy to sustainably recognize the valuable work of foster carers.
The application must be submitted to the competent local municipality. Required documents include the completed application form, foster care approvals or foster care allowance notices covering the entire 15-year period, as well as the corresponding registration certificates. No employment relationship may have existed during the care periods. With this measure, the state of Carinthia promotes equal opportunities in the social sector and supports foster carers in having their contribution to the development of children and adolescents appropriately acknowledged.
