Description
Since 2013, the Marlies and Herbert Repkow Foundation has been supporting medical institutions in North Rhine-Westphalia in optimizing cancer treatment and diagnosis. By providing state-of-the-art equipment such as diode laser systems for minimally invasive lung surgery, ultra-thin endoscopes for precise diagnostics, and mobile ultrasound devices for pediatric oncology, therapy quality and patient comfort are significantly enhanced. Additionally, the foundation provides eight database subscriptions to supply oncology professionals with up-to-date “Practice Changing Updates,” thereby promoting evidence-based decision-making. Collaborative research projects in OWL also benefit from grants for the acquisition of laboratory equipment, such as high-performance cytometers or fluorescence microscopes, enabling pioneering biomedical studies.
Eligible for funding are public and non-profit hospitals, educational and research institutions focusing on internal medicine, oncology, and pediatric oncology in Bethel and the surrounding area. Interested institutions submit a project description and statement of needs to receive a tailored in-kind donation. Applications can be submitted continuously, ensuring timely implementation of new treatment concepts. In addition to major medical devices, the foundation also supports diagnostic and surgical equipment as well as database licenses to drive continuous innovation and excellent patient care. Promising initiatives in cancer research and care are thus sustainably strengthened, making an important contribution to improving oncological treatment outcomes in the region.
