Description
The funding program supports commercially operated clubs and live music venues in Berlin in implementing professionally soundproofed measures. The goal is to achieve measurable improvements in noise and sound protection beyond the legal limits, thereby permanently easing conflicts with local residents. Funding is provided for structural measures indoors and outdoors, innovative concepts, as well as noise protection assessments and planning services. Thus, the program makes an important contribution to the long-term safeguarding of club culture and promotes the sustainable coexistence of event venues and residential neighborhoods.
Eligible to apply are establishments located in Berlin that host at least 24 live concerts or 48 DJ events per year and whose capacity does not exceed 1,500 persons. The funding rate amounts to 80% to 90% of the eligible net expenses, depending on the grant amount; for projects of special urban economic significance, the funding sum can be up to €100,000, regularly up to €50,000. Only projects that are completed within nine months after approval and whose lease or rental agreement guarantees a remaining term of at least two years are eligible. Required documentation includes declarations such as the de minimis statement, noise protection assessments, lease agreements, and GEMA certificates. Currently, no applications can be submitted; the next application period begins on January 1, 2024, and ends on December 31, 2025.
