Description
Since 2006, the Senior Expert Service (SES) has been deploying experienced retired professionals to general and vocational schools in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen, Hesse, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia. Once or twice a week, the volunteer experts undertake age-appropriate, practice-oriented projects that effectively complement regular lessons and are explicitly recommended by the responsible ministries. There are no costs for educational institutions, as the assignments are fully financed through donations and sponsorship funds.
The focus is on the individual thematic requests of the schools, with special emphasis on employability and career orientation, STEM subjects, as well as language and reading support and integration assistance. Examples range from application training and internship supervision to mathematics, computer science, and technology exercises, as well as targeted language promotion programs. The project duration is up to twelve months with the possibility of extension, while the funding rate is 100%. Requests can be submitted at any time using the official form, allowing teachers and school authorities to plan flexibly and benefit from the long-standing expertise of the SES experts.
