Description
The Senior Research Fellowship at the Leibniz Institute of European History (IEG) in Mainz offers an excellent opportunity for renowned international scholars to carry out their own research projects for a duration of one to six months and to engage intensively with the institute’s staff. Fellows are provided with free accommodation in a modern guest apartment in Mainz’s old town, including bed linen and cleaning services, offering a comfortable environment. Additionally, a daily allowance of €30 and travel expenses coverage up to €750 are granted, facilitating uncomplicated international travel. Participants also receive a workspace in a shared office and can actively participate in all events – from the weekly research colloquium to the Master Class workshop.
The aim of the funding is to deepen existing collaborations and initiate forward-looking joint projects. Applications can be submitted on a rolling basis and require a letter of motivation, a concise description of the planned research project, and a current CV as a PDF document. A selection committee composed of the board and research committee decides on the award. By utilizing the IEG’s scientific infrastructure, a creative framework for academic exchange at an international level is created. This guest program not only enhances knowledge gain in European historical studies but also promotes interdisciplinary and cross-border collaboration.
