Description
The program for securing existing protected places in after-school care centers and other school-age childcare services in Hesse supports public providers with annual grants to maintain existing childcare places. Funding is provided for full-day and part-time places (at least three days per week) for school-age children in after-school care centers as well as other childcare services offered by municipalities. The goal is the permanent protection of places funded since 2005 in order to maintain a stable supply structure and avoid regional service gaps. The Hessian Ministry of Labour, Integration, Youth and Social Affairs acts as the funding authority.
The following conditions apply for approval: a legal operating license for after-school care centers, no simultaneous use of other state programs for the same purpose, and application of the current Investment and Measures Funding Guideline (IMFR). The grant amount is up to €300 per approved full-day place or €200 per part-time place, each up to the amount of the previous year’s funding. Applications must be submitted to the responsible youth welfare office by March 1 of the current year and approved by the Kassel Regional Council. Required documents include the forms “Applications for Measures Funding,” the “2018 Work Aid,” and the “Technical and Funding Principles.” Municipalities and public providers seeking to sustainably secure their childcare places will find here a reliable financing option for long-term quality assurance in school-age childcare.
