Description
Special Funding Initiative Heating System Replacement 2026 supports owners of single- and two-family houses as well as terraced houses in Burgenland in disposing of fossil heating systems and replacing them with highly efficient, alternative heating solutions. The focus is on increasing energy efficiency and climate and environmental protection: with a grant of 30% of the eligible costs (maximum €2,000 basic funding, up to €3,500 including bonuses and social surcharge), investments in heat pumps, biomass central heating systems, infrared heating elements, or local/district heating connections are supported. An additional bonus of up to €300 for hot water heat pumps combined with biomass and a social surcharge of up to €500 for households with a net annual income below €43,000 enable a higher funding amount. The initiative runs from 01.01.2026 to 31.12.2026; applications can be submitted until no later than 31.01.2027.
The prerequisite is the main residence in Austria for at least two years as well as predominantly private use (> 50%) of the building in Burgenland. Eligible costs include new installation, dismantling, and disposal of the old system, but not prototypes, used devices, or economically feasible connectable district heating connections. For the application, a fully completed form, settled invoices with proof of payment, an acceptance protocol from an authorized company, and, if applicable, a power of attorney must be submitted. Experts from the Burgenland state government review the documents within the framework of the €9 million budget. Early planning and coordination with an installation company ensure smooth implementation and maximum funding amount.
