Description
The special program "Energy Efficiency in Companies" specifically supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in rural areas of Bavaria. Through a grant covering 20–45% of eligible investment costs, energy-efficient modernizations, renovations, and new constructions are promoted. Applications can be submitted for technical systems – such as heating, cooling, and ventilation technology – for building renovations including associated systems, and for energy-optimized new buildings. The objective is a significant reduction of final energy consumption in both existing operational buildings and new, highly energy-efficient properties. The program thus contributes to climate protection, the reduction of operating costs, and the strengthening of the regional economic strength.
Eligibility for funding applies to SMEs as defined by the EU, located in rural areas or in ERDF priority regions of Bavaria. A minimum energy saving is required (e.g., ≥ 15% for technical systems or a reduction of the annual final energy demand according to the Building Energy Act (GEG) by ≥ 12.5% up to ≥ 20% for new construction or renovation) and must be confirmed by a qualified third party. Eligible expenses include the acquisition, production, and installation of the planned assets. Application classification is based on the evaluation criteria "amount of final energy savings," "degree of technical innovation," and "fulfillment of minimum investment thresholds." Applications must be submitted to the responsible district government before the commencement of the measure. Required documents include a project description, the energy efficiency confirmation by a third party, and a financing confirmation from the applicant's bank. The program is administered by the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy and contributes to the sustainable transformation of the Bavarian economy.
