Other Funding Projects – Education as an Opportunity

The Haniel Foundation supports innovative educational initiatives in Duisburg and the Ruhr area under the pillar "Education as Opportunity," with the aim of sustainably assisting disadvantaged children and young people. Within the framework of the "Other Funding Projects," non-profit organizations and committed founders receive financial grants, voluntary engagement, and access to a strong network. This funding is aimed at start-ups and associations developing innovative formats in the fields of education, digitalization, commitment to social cohesion and democracy, as well as vocational training and further education. Through cooperation with local partners, a comprehensive alliance is formed that sets educational policy impulses and improves opportunities for young people in North Rhine-Westphalia in the long term.

The ongoing funding opportunity enables initiative teams to respond flexibly to regional needs and continuously further develop their projects. Special attention is given to initiatives that strengthen digital skills, promote culture of remembrance, or create everyday learning situations – for example, through programming workshops, contemporary witness projects, or school farm programs. The Haniel Foundation accompanies each initiative with advisory services and opens doors to experts from business and the educational landscape. These grants contribute to cooperatively strengthening the educational landscape in Duisburg and its surroundings and opening up new perspectives for children and young people in their academic and professional development.
