Description

In Burgenland, from October 1, 2024, there will be permanent funding for minors with disabilities whose disability-related conditions hinder adequate upbringing and schooling. Private individuals with their main residence and actual stay in Burgenland can apply for a grant if neither permanent support according to § 19 nor temporary assistance is ensured. A prerequisite is Austrian citizenship or the status of an asylum seeker or permanent resident for at least five years. The aim is to financially offset additional costs arising from disability in upbringing and schooling. This is intended to enable support for children and adolescents appropriate to their abilities. The responsible authority is the Department of Social Benefits and Disability Affairs of the Burgenland State Government.

The following documents are required for the application: proof of income for the last six months, current care allowance decision, maintenance agreement, divorce settlement or judgment, school attendance confirmation, and a cost estimate. Applications can be submitted continuously at the district administrative authorities or magistrates in Burgenland. There are no submission deadlines; processing takes place after the complete submission of all required documents. The grant is awarded as a one-time or ongoing contribution and complements other services of the state social assistance under the Burgenland Equal Opportunities Act.
