Description

Since January 1, 2021, the State of Salzburg has supported the supra-regional concerns of mountain, water, and cave rescue with an annual contribution of €1.41 per inhabitant. This subsidy is allocated 80% to the Austrian Mountain Rescue Service (Salzburg Regional Office), 15% to the Austrian Water Rescue Service (Salzburg Regional Office), and 5% to the Austrian Cave Rescue Service. As a continuously available funding, the program is exclusively aimed at non-profit organizations and contributes to strengthening disaster protection as well as ensuring a comprehensive rescue infrastructure in alpine and water-adjacent regions.

The administration is carried out by Department 9 – Health in the Office of the Salzburg State Government, which, in addition to funding management, is also responsible for the planning and quality assurance of health policy measures. Applications can be submitted at any time, as the funding is valid indefinitely and does not provide deadlines in the traditional sense. With this funding, the State of Salzburg makes a significant contribution to securing emergency personnel and coordinating life-saving services in the fields of mountain rescue, water rescue, and cave rescue, thereby promoting social security and resilience in the region.
