Description

The discount initiative of the City of Graz offers SocialCard holders a reduced annual ticket for the Graz Linien at €50 per year (€60 including the Schlossbergbahn) and is aimed at low-income individuals aged 18 and over with a main residence in Graz of at least six months. A prerequisite is proof of low household income, for example through GIS exemption or minimum social benefits according to Styrian social assistance or disability law. Furthermore, applicants must be Austrian citizens or holders of a residence permit valid for at least three months; third-country nationals who registered in Graz for the first time after January 1, 2016, must additionally sign the Graz Integration Declaration. The indefinite funding measure is administered in cooperation with Holding Graz Linien, is budget-independent, and aims to sustainably strengthen mobility and social participation.

Applications are free of charge and can be submitted online at any time or via PDF form; alternatively, documents can be submitted at the Social Welfare Office. Required documents include a valid photo ID, a recent passport photo, proof of legal residence, and, if applicable, pension notice or AMS registration. In case of representation, a decision on adult representation and power of attorney must be presented. After thorough review, eligible persons receive the discounted annual ticket directly at the counter or by mail. Renewal can be made as early as one month before expiration. Changes in eligibility criteria must be reported to prevent abuse and to ensure an efficient payment process in accordance with the once-only principle. The SocialCard itself is free of charge, and personal submissions at the Social Welfare Office are by appointment only.
