Description
The social grant from the DPSG Diocesan Association Berlin is aimed at children, adolescents, and young adults in Berlin, Brandenburg, and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania who, as individual members, require financial relief for scouting activities due to economically challenging circumstances. Up to 50% of the cost participation for summer, Pentecost, autumn, and winter camps as well as weekend trips, training, and further education courses are funded. The goal is to strengthen solidarity and social inclusion by enabling young people to participate fully in communal experiences despite financial barriers. Funds are allocated based on need and are determined by verified economic hardship as well as already utilized personal and external funding options.
An application must generally be submitted no later than four weeks before the start of the respective activity via the completed social grant form signed by a member of the troop board. For Pentecost camps, the deadline is May 1st; for summer camps and the needs notification for autumn camps, June 15th; other events require a needs registration eight weeks prior to the start and a complete application four weeks before commencement. Decisions are made based on economic assessment and available funding pools. The regular DPSG membership fee is not eligible for funding. In case of budget overruns, a waiting list may be established, with remaining funds distributed evenly after October 30th. Documents required: completed form, proof of need, and signature of the troop board. This ensures that all interested parties can participate in valuable scouting and educational events regardless of their financial situation.
