Description

The Sparkassenstiftung Lüneburg supports non-profit initiatives in the Hanseatic city and district of Lüneburg through its funding program for art and culture. Projects, actions, and events in the fields of music, theater, visual arts (including photography and new media), literature, monument preservation, historical research and education, as well as museums, are funded. Both capital investment projects and material costs for activities are the focus. The funding amount covers up to 50% of the total costs depending on the measure; capital investment projects are subsidized with a maximum of one third. All projects must be implemented within twelve months after approval and be continuously documented during the funding period. If expenses decrease or revenues increase, the foundation reserves the right to adjust the funding amount. Initiatives by the Sparkassenstiftung itself may even be fully financed.

Eligible to apply are non-profit associations, foundations, public-law corporations, or interest groups with their headquarters or project location in the funding region. Non-profit status according to § 52 of the German Fiscal Code (Abgabenordnung), a detailed cost and financing plan, and upon request by the foundation, a valid exemption notice are prerequisites. Private applicants are excluded. Funding applications must be submitted by March 31, 2026, via the digital platform “Hand in Hand for Lüneburg”; later submissions will be reviewed in the November 2026 session. The award criteria ensure transparent gap financing and promote sustainable cultural impulses locally.
