Description
The play space funding program of the State of Vorarlberg supports public institutions in the development and implementation of innovative play space concepts as well as the creation of diverse open space offerings. Both conceptual measures according to § 3 of the Play Space Act and concrete facilities such as playgrounds, natural play areas, youth parks, and play and activity niches are funded. The goal is to provide children and adolescents with the urgently needed space for movement and exploration outdoors and to strengthen intergenerational encounters in public spaces. Special attention is given to synergy effects with neighborhood development, climate change adaptation, and biodiversity in settlement areas. Applications can be submitted continuously without time limitation starting from January 1, 2024; funding is provided in the form of grants.
The funding is primarily aimed at municipalities and public bodies in Vorarlberg that develop and implement play space concepts. A prerequisite for receiving funding is submission in accordance with the current guidelines of the state government and adherence to deadlines: budget payments may have been made no more than three years (one year for play and activity niches) before the application date, the project must start within 1 ½ years after the funding approval, and the approval expires after five years. Specialized funding applications are required for initial or revised play space concepts, reviews of measure planning, as well as for the individual types of play locations. This enables applicants to create attractive and sustainable play spaces for all generations.
