Description

The elite sports funding of the State of Burgenland supports Burgenland’s specialized associations and sports clubs in optimally accompanying their athletes in the general class and youth categories at national and international major competitions. Funding is provided for participation and successes at Austrian National and Austrian Championships as well as at European and World Championships and the Olympic Games. Both team and individual sports in the highest leagues are supported, as are cup competitions in team sports. Eligible to apply are non-profit clubs and interest groups based in Burgenland and affiliated with a Burgenland specialized association. Achievements placing 1st to 3rd as well as registration and placement on official result lists and plaques constitute the prerequisites for subsidies for travel expenses and premiums for top performances. The amount of subsidies depends on the event location and discipline, supplemented by regional flat rates within Burgenland.

Applications are submitted semi-annually: by December 31 for the first half-year and by June 30 for the second half-year of the previous year. Required documents include the completed application form, announcements, match reports, result lists, and proof of achieved placements. Once all requirements are met, payment is made as a non-repayable grant upon submission of the receipts. This funding enables clubs to financially relieve their elite athletes and expand international competition experience—and thus makes a significant contribution to the long-term performance improvement and visibility of Burgenland’s elite sports.
