Description
The Elisabeth and Bernhard Weik Foundation regularly supports sponsored runs at special education schools in North Rhine-Westphalia within the jurisdiction of LVR and LWL. Public educational institutions, non-profit organizations, or school support associations can receive a flat-rate grant of €5 per participating person upon proof of a planned sponsored event. Additionally, specially designed T-shirts are provided for all participating students. Payments are made exclusively to the respective support association and are earmarked: they are allocated for the purchase of sports and exercise equipment or teaching materials for children and young people with physical and motor impairments. Applications can be submitted at any time, allowing flexible planning of school inclusion projects.
With this initiative, the foundation aims to strengthen sports and exercise offerings at special education schools, promote the self-esteem of students, and raise societal awareness of inclusion. The support ranges from practical equipment to financial funding, enabling sustainable effects in everyday school life. Since the program’s inception, numerous schools in cities such as Cologne, Aachen, and Bonn have benefited from the funds and modernized their sports programs. Eligible for funding are all special education schools focusing on physical and motor development within the LVR or LWL areas. Interested institutions receive application templates without deadline constraints and benefit from straightforward processing as well as professional support from the foundation.
