Sports Promotion in Bremen

In the Bremen region, sports promotion is one of the central thematic areas of Sports, Culture & Media and is implemented as a grant. By providing municipal sports facilities as well as direct financial assistance, the program strengthens the performance capacity of sports clubs and associations. It is aimed at interest groups and other clubs that are recognized sports organizations according to § 3 of the Sports Promotion Act and are members of the Bremen State Sports Federation. The focus is on the training and further education of instructors, construction measures on club-owned sports facilities, management of public facilities, and the procurement of sports equipment. In addition, it specifically supports swimming sports and promotes inclusive offerings.

A prerequisite for funding is an equity share of at least 50% of the recognized earmarked total costs; the funding rate of 50% ensures an attractive financial scope. Thanks to ongoing application submissions, measures can be planned flexibly, provided the application is submitted to the responsible Sports Office of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen before the start of the respective measure. Eligible expenses include training and further education measures, new construction, expansion, conversion or renovation of club-owned sports facilities, operating costs, equipment procurement, as well as programs in swimming sports and inclusion. The basis for funding is a completed application form, a binding cost plan, and a legally binding signature. The allocation is decided by the department within the framework of available budget funds, thereby creating a reliable basis for sustainable club engagement.
