Description
In the state of Salzburg, the program supports the needs-based construction, expansion, and renovation of publicly accessible sports facilities as well as the acquisition of high-performance large sports equipment. The goal is to create sustainable and modern infrastructure that enables a wide range of movement activities as well as contemporary training and competition operations for elite, performance, and recreational sports. Eligible costs include construction, conversion, and renovation expenses as well as in-kind contributions in the form of personnel and construction machinery deployment. Applying municipalities, sports clubs, sports associations, and non-profit institutions can submit applications continuously within an open-ended procedure and benefit from transparent evaluation by the State Sports Office. A prerequisite for approval is the submission of the application prior to the start of construction or acquisition, as well as a well-founded needs assessment and professional evaluation by the State Sports Office.
The funding rate ranges between 10% and 35% of the recognized costs depending on the financial capacity of the municipality, while up to 33% of expenses for sports equipment are covered. Eligible costs particularly include construction and renovation expenses for sports fields, athletics facilities, tennis and beach volleyball courts, multifunctional movement parks, ice rinks, and infrastructure for various other sports. Not eligible for funding are, among others, development costs, parking lots, administrative costs, as well as ongoing operational and maintenance expenses. Submissions must be made by no later than June 30 of each year to the department responsible for sports at the Office of the Salzburg State Government. Ensuring public accessibility and sustainable use are as much in focus as technical functionality and the urgency of the project.
