Sports Event Funding

The Sports Event Funding supports non-profit sports clubs and associations based in Vienna through financial grants to carry out sports events with balanced budgets. The goal is to strengthen Vienna as an attractive location for national and international major sports events and to provide Viennese athletes with a representative platform. A central concern is to improve the sustainable use of existing sports infrastructure and to promote more physical activity in the sense of an active and healthy lifestyle. Additionally, the funding aims to generate positive effects for Vienna as a tourism and business location, in order to promote the city’s long-term sporting and economic development.

Funding is provided for, among others, European Championships, World Championships, Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as Austrian national and championship events and other events of supraregional significance. Eligible to apply are non-profit organizations whose purpose is the practice of a sport recognized in Vienna and which have no pending insolvency proceedings. Applications for funding can be submitted continuously without deadline restrictions. The funding is provided in the form of a direct grant and offers clubs and associations a reliable financing perspective to implement sports projects in Vienna sustainably and effectively.
