Description

The state funding program "Urban Greenery, Noise, Radon/2023 Part B" supports investment projects in Saxony aimed at expanding and securing biodiversity-promoting green infrastructures as well as implementing noise reduction measures in heavily burdened residential areas. The program funds projects in the fields of infrastructure, environmental and nature conservation, urban development, as well as energy efficiency and climate protection. Key projects include the creation, enhancement, and networking of green and open spaces, facade and roof greening, as well as active and passive noise reduction measures along heavily trafficked roads. The funding is directed at public institutions, non-profit organizations, municipal authorities, municipal enterprises, and recognized religious communities that wish to invest specifically in the sustainable improvement of urban living environments.

A prerequisite for accessing the funding is that the measures are implemented exclusively in Saxony and that certain proofs, such as ownership confirmations or consent declarations for land use, are provided. Urban greenery measures can only be carried out in towns and municipalities with more than 2,000 inhabitants and must be located outside contiguous agricultural land or forest areas. For roof and facade greening, implementation on existing buildings constructed before 31 December 2018 with a minimum greening area is required. Noise reduction measures require submission of a current noise action plan, proof of the corresponding noise exposure, and obtaining the necessary public-law permits. These specific conditions ensure that the funding is used purposefully and effectively.

Financial support is provided as a grant, with eligible expenses reimbursed at rates of 75% to 90%. This enables municipal and non-profit actors to realize investment costs of up to €200,000. In addition to the clearly structured thematic focus, the program places special emphasis on ensuring and strengthening regional nature and climate protection. The applicant institution must register the measure online via the respective funding portal before implementation begins. Through this targeted funding, measures to improve the urban landscape, reduce noise, and enhance environmental and climate protection are significantly advanced – an important step towards sustainably increasing the quality of life in urban areas.
