Description
With the funding program Urban Regional Rail Financing based on a Special Grant Act, the federal government creates incentives for local and regional transport development in the Vienna region. Public institutions such as municipalities and municipal transport companies are enabled to receive grant funding for cross-city boundary tram projects in agglomerations with more than 100,000 inhabitants. This includes all phases from conception through planning and land acquisition to construction and commissioning. Applications can be submitted continuously from 01.01.2024 until the budget is exhausted and are based on the provisions of the respective Special Grant Act between the federal government and project sponsors.
Expenses in the areas of planning costs, land acquisition, construction costs, and commissioning costs are eligible for funding, provided the project ensures supraregional transport connectivity. The prerequisite is the existence of an urban regional rail project with cross-city boundary impact as well as the conclusion of the federal Special Grant Act. With a total volume of 38.165 million euros, the program focuses on ecological, social, and economic sustainability and supports the mobility of people and goods. Through the direct grant, project sponsors receive a reliable financing basis to purposefully implement urban infrastructure projects and sustainably increase the performance of public transport.
