Description
The Irene Foundation supports non-profit associations, initiatives, and educational institutions in Hamburg that are engaged in the field of autism. Through financial grants, reimbursements for material and personnel costs, as well as advisory services, the foundation supports projects aimed at improving the participation of people on the autism spectrum. A particular focus is placed on offerings that relieve families, such as sports and leisure education activities or exchange formats tailored to siblings. Furthermore, research and educational projects that generate new knowledge about autism and provide practical recommendations for institutions and professionals are funded. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and allow for both initial and follow-up financing without a maximum duration.
Only projects based in or having a direct impact in Hamburg are eligible; individuals are excluded. Expenses for living costs, school or vocational training, personal assistants, travel costs, and the training of assistance dogs are excluded. Applications are evaluated based on their relevance to people on the autism spectrum, their contribution to relieving families, and the scientific quality in research matters. Through the open, informal application process, institutions can request support at any time and thus implement their concepts in the fields of education, health, social affairs, sports, culture, or media. The Irene Foundation thereby contributes to sustainably meeting the special support needs of people with autism and strengthening their social participation.
