Description

The Kurt and Herma Römer Foundation awards scholarships nationwide for the targeted promotion of scientific research as well as for further education and training. Private individuals who are enrolled at a university or already hold a university degree may submit applications continuously. Designed as an award, the foundation supports projects in the fields of research & innovation, further education & training, and education. Funded are initiatives that aim academically at further qualification – such as a doctorate or master's degree – or promise new insights through scientific publications. The allocation is decided by the board, with approval or rejection determined within three months of application receipt.

Requirements for submitting an application include valid enrollment at a university or an already acquired scientific qualification, as well as a presentation of the project to be funded, including a detailed cost calculation. The completion of any previous vocational training must not be more than ten years ago. The application package includes a brief personal introduction with educational biography, a project description with an itemized cost breakdown, a statement on existing or planned funding commitments, and an outline of personal circumstances (e.g., maintenance and caregiving responsibilities). Upon positive decision, scholarship recipients receive a grant notice specifying the duration, amount, and modalities of the funding. The foundation reserves the right to request additional information regarding scientific supervision and to require semi-annual proof of use.
