Description

The Robert Wilson Foundation for the Promotion of Art, Culture, and Education supports young artists and students from Germany and the EU with the scholarship for the four-week Summer Workshop program at the Watermill Center. The aim is to further develop outstanding artistic potential in disciplines such as directing, set design, performance, acting, as well as related fields, and to build interdisciplinary networks. In the inspiring environment of the Watermill Center on Long Island, NY, the selected participants work together with international mentors and renowned guests on individual projects and collaborative performances. The program encourages creative experimentation and sharpens the artistic profile as a foundation for an international career.

Eligible for funding are private individuals residing in Germany or another EU member state who can demonstrate their artistic or academic qualifications and meet the age and experience requirements of the workshop. Selection is made by a panel chaired by Robert Wilson and takes into account artistic preliminary work, interdisciplinary orientation, and specific development goals. The scholarship covers a one-month stay in the Summer Workshop as well as a grant towards travel expenses and participation fees. Applications for the 2026 program can be submitted from October 1, 2025. Through this funding opportunity, young talents gain not only practical experience but also valuable impulses for their artistic careers at an international level.
