Description
The program "Scholarships Open Worlds" of the Dr. Leo Ricker Foundation has been specifically supporting motivated and high-achieving students and doctoral candidates at Freiburg universities since 1970, who rely on financial assistance due to their economic situation and are socially engaged. Up to 50 beneficiaries annually receive a monthly grant of up to 500 EUR for a maximum of 24 months – entirely without any repayment obligation. This offer aims not only to recognize academic excellence and social commitment but also to sustainably strengthen equal opportunities and individual future prospects.
Eligible to apply are all enrolled students and doctoral candidates at universities and universities of applied sciences in Freiburg who can demonstrate financial need, outstanding academic or research achievements, and social engagement. Submission requirements include a CV, motivation letter, enrollment certificate, academic transcripts, proof of social involvement, and evidence of financial status. Selection is based on academic performance, social engagement, personal motivation, and actual need for support. An annual award round allows for continuous applications; exact time frames are specified in the funding guidelines. With a one hundred percent funding rate, "Scholarships Open Worlds" opens diverse educational pathways and strengthens social cohesion in the Baden-Württemberg region.
