Description
The Ulrich Bernath Foundation for Distance Learning Research awards innovative XR learning scenarios within the framework of the competition “AVRiL – Successful Learning Scenarios,” which have been able to be submitted nationwide by private individuals and educational institutions since 2022/23. The focus is on the development of learning formats that enable self-directed, cooperative, as well as location- and time-independent learning. The outstanding contribution is honored with a travel and lecture scholarship, while a special prize recognizes those learning scenarios that particularly fulfill the mentioned criteria. Interested researchers, educators, and students in the field of XR learning thus have the opportunity to present and network their projects at national and international professional events.
With this award, the foundation aims to promote digital transformation in initial and continuing education and to advance distance learning research. A prerequisite for participation is the submission of a practice-oriented learning scenario contribution within the framework of the AVRiL competition of the XR Learning Working Group of the German Informatics Society. The evaluation focuses especially on the level of innovation and the fulfillment of the principles of self-directed, cooperative learning. Funding opportunities are ongoing, with submission deadlines announced annually. In doing so, the foundation supports the development of forward-looking educational approaches in the fields of digitalization, media, and research & innovation.
