Description

The Ferdinand and Charlotte Schimmelpfennig Foundation supports young, needy individuals up to the age of 30 in the Berlin/Brandenburg area through financial grants during their school and academic education. As an independent, non-profit organization, it aims to promote equal opportunities in education and reduce the pressure on scholarship recipients to earn additional income through part-time jobs. Priority is given to pupils, students, and doctoral candidates whose existing resources – whether personal assets, state benefits, or maintenance claims – are insufficient to cover their monthly needs. The foundation invests in education to strengthen talents regardless of social background and to ensure fair participation in the education system in the long term.

Funding is provided to private individuals who can demonstrate financial need and have an existing admission to a German school or university. Application documents include a motivation letter, an overview of the current educational and training status along with the planned duration, a curriculum vitae, a detailed statement of monthly expenses with supporting documents, relevant certificates (high school diploma, vocational and partial completion certificates), and, if applicable, proof of BAföG funding. Applications can be submitted continuously as long as funds are available, allowing for flexible funding planning. Selection is based on the amount of demonstrated need and the current educational status. Interested parties thus receive reliable support to fully concentrate on their school or academic development.
