Description
The Hessian Scholarship Institute supports students of Philipps University Marburg by granting discounted dormitory places in the self-managed Collegium Philippinum. Residents not only benefit from affordable rent but also experience an active community life in historic buildings. Interdisciplinary plurality and democratic participation characterize the coexistence: Each person takes on a voluntary role in the house each semester, assumes responsibility in the house assembly, and helps organize joint activities such as gardening, excursions, or communal meals. The objective is to strengthen solidarity-based living and learning through independent organization and lived participation of all residents.
Interested students must be enrolled at Philipps University Marburg and complete a written application process followed by an interview. The complete application includes the filled-out application form with personal information, answers to creative questions, a tabular or narrative CV, and a photo, compiled as a PDF. Deadlines depend on the semester: For the winter semester, submissions usually close in the first week of July; for the summer semester, in the first week of February. The application deadline for the summer semester 2026 is January 30, 2026, at 24:00. After the selection process by the house assembly and the administrative commission is completed, feedback regarding admission or placement on the waiting list will be provided promptly.
