Description
The scholarship program of the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg is aimed at dedicated artists and cultural professionals in the fields of visual arts, literature, music, performing arts, and cultural management who have their primary residence, main work focus, or significant biographical connection in Baden-Württemberg. Approximately 20 scholarships worth 6,000 to 12,000 euros are awarded annually to provide young talents with financial freedom for fundamental artistic research and the further development of their work. As an unrestricted grant, the scholarship allows free choice of residence and workplace as well as the use of studio locations in Stuttgart and Berlin for current and former scholarship holders. The decision is made by an independent expert jury that takes into account diverse artistic production methods and continuously adapts the program to current development trends – for example, by including new forms of music or specialized cultural management projects.
The aim of the Kunststiftung is to support emerging talent during the often challenging initial phase and to introduce them to a broad public through publications, exhibitions, and events. Pure project funding is not possible in order to instead focus on sustainable artistic research and individual development. The call for applications takes place once a year; exact deadlines are announced on the foundation’s website. Participants benefit not only from financial grants but also from a network of experts that can provide long-term impulses for innovative projects.
