Description

The scholarship program of the Stiftung Stahlwerk Georgsmarienhütte supports students nationwide in engineering and natural science degree programs with a focus on materials and environmental technology. As an award, it honors outstanding commitment and academic achievements with a financial grant of €2,100 per semester. The goal is to reduce educational poverty and counteract the acute shortage of skilled workers in STEM disciplines. Study projects at universities, universities of applied sciences, and academic distance learning institutions are supported. A prerequisite for application is enrollment in an eligible degree program; first-year students may submit their enrollment certificate later. The selection committee decides on the submitted applications several times a year, with the next meeting scheduled for February 19, 2026. Complete documents must be submitted no later than four weeks before this date.

An online form and detailed instructions on the required documents are available for the application materials. Among other things, a CV, copies of the university entrance qualification and enrollment certificates, a compelling letter of motivation, as well as, if applicable, current academic transcripts and letters of recommendation are required. Applications can be submitted informally by email or postal mail to the foundation’s board. The scholarship can be granted continuously within the standard period of study provided that at least satisfactory performance is maintained, without any repayment obligation after graduation. With this program, the Stiftung Stahlwerk Georgsmarienhütte continues its long-standing tradition of linking knowledge transfer and social responsibility and supporting young talents on their path to becoming excellent professionals.
