Description

The scholarship of the Michael Horbach Foundation is aimed at young, still little-known artists who are beginning their artistic careers in new cultural environments. Through a several-month residency in the studio apartment of the art spaces in Cologne, the scholarship holders receive not only generously designed work and living spaces but also the opportunity to develop creative processes in an inspiring environment. During the stay, both accommodation and a separate studio space are provided to develop works in peace and to consistently pursue artistic visions. The selection criteria place special emphasis on supporting artists from foreign cultural backgrounds whose previous career paths have been shaped by a lack of resources.

Following the studio phase, the work created during the scholarship is presented in the Foundation’s art spaces and thus made accessible to a broad public. The exhibition provides the participating artists with valuable exposure in the regional art scene of North Rhine-Westphalia and beyond. Since applications are possible at any time, the program offers continuous funding opportunities for women and non-binary persons at the beginning of their artistic careers. Through this targeted support, the Michael Horbach Foundation makes an important contribution to cultural diversity and self-development, enabling young talents to sustainably broaden their perspectives.
