Description

The scholarship awarded every two years by the SHannoverStiftung is endowed with €10,000 and is aimed at professional photographers residing in Germany. The focus is on artistic-documentary projects that portray the microcosm of the state capital Hannover in its diversity and detail. The award provides the opportunity to conduct photographic research on site, highlight local perspectives, and present them in an exhibition at the Gallery for Photography (GAF). An independent expert jury evaluates both the thematic relevance and the artistic execution and selects the most outstanding concept for implementation on site.

Applications must include a meaningful project proposal with a thematic connection to Hannover, a portfolio with work samples, and a curriculum vitae in tabular form. Selection criteria include the quality of the project proposal, artistic excellence, and the sustainability of the planned implementation. Proof of previous photographic work and proof of residence in Germany are mandatory prerequisites. Deadlines vary depending on the meeting date of the foundation’s board; interested parties are requested to inquire by phone with the SHannoverStiftung about current dates and the exact procedure. The award aims to promote photographic engagement with urban reality and to enrich Hannover’s cultural profile.
