Description
The Berdelle Foundation for Science, Culture, and Technology supports dedicated students of natural sciences and engineering with earmarked scholarships for the realization of study-related projects. Funding is provided to Bachelor’s, Master’s, final examination, and diploma students from the third semester onwards who meet the requirements of § 8 BAföG and are enrolled at a public or state-recognized university. The scholarship consists of a monthly study cost allowance currently amounting to €300 as well as an income-dependent basic amount of up to €812. Additionally, grants may be awarded for learning and aid materials, specialist conferences, courses, congress attendance, and excursions. Besides a childcare allowance of up to €160 per child, funding for health insurance (up to €94) and long-term care insurance (up to €28) is also available upon request.
Selection is based on professional qualifications (school and performance certificates), general education, interest and commitment, as well as financial need. A second degree following a professionally qualifying first degree is excluded, as is simultaneous merit-based gifted support by third parties. Eligible to apply are private individuals with consistently good performance and demonstrably study-relevant activities. Applications must be submitted by November 1 for the summer semester and by May 1 for the winter semester via the Foundation’s online form. Required documents include, among others, a cover letter outlining previous and planned career paths, a tabular CV, enrollment and performance records, letters of recommendation from two university lecturers, as well as proof of BAföG or income. A detailed concept and complete documentation are prerequisites for a positive funding decision.
