Description

The study scholarships of the Cologne Gymnasial and Foundation Fund support students from the third semester onwards in bridging financing gaps between the costs of education and their available personal funds or other forms of financial aid. The aim of the funding is to enable a swift and focused course of study within the standard period of study. In addition to financial grants, the program offers supplementary educational and mentoring opportunities that promote exchange with experienced experts and accompany individual development paths. The funding is aimed at enrolled young people with outstanding academic talent as well as demonstrable social and civic engagement who wish to complete their studies on schedule.

Requirements for application include, among others, a school-leaving certificate with an average grade of at least 2.0, a study performance grade of at least 2.5, and proof of an actual financing gap. The degree must be completed within a maximum of 130% of the standard period of study, and applicants must not have exceeded the age of 30 at the time of application. Foreign applicants may apply for degree programs within Germany. Selection is based on academic achievements, financial and social circumstances, as well as the applicants’ civic engagement. Applications are accepted from February 1 to March 1 and August 1 to September 1 each year. Required documents include proof of enrollment, school-leaving certificate, academic transcripts, evidence of engagement and financing gap, as well as the fully completed application form. Scholarship awards are made through a multi-stage selection process involving written evaluation and, if necessary, personal interviews.
