Description
SUPPORT TO THE EUROPEAN FRMCS DEPLOYMENT GROUP (EU-RAIL JU Call 2025-02) promotes the coordinated introduction of the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) in the European rail sector. Companies and public institutions of all sizes from all EU Member States are eligible to submit applications until 11 February 2026, 17:00 (Brussels time). With funding of up to €700,000 and a funding rate of 100% per project, activities over 24 months will be financed. The objective is the planning, management, and monitoring of the FRMCS deployment involving railway infrastructure managers, transport operators, and suppliers. Key funding content includes establishing a central Programme Management Office function, capacity mappings through sector surveys, and detailed time and cost studies.
In parallel, knowledge exchange will be established, including the development of a guideline toolkit for migration scenarios (Greenfield/Brownfield), provision of specialized expertise (e.g., system certification, cybersecurity, RAMS), and the setup of a European dashboard for comparative analysis of implementation status. Public relations and stakeholder engagement ensure transparency and promote cross-border coordination. Eligibility to apply requires participation rights in EU-RAIL JU Call 2025-02 according to Horizon Europe regulations. Required documents include a detailed project description, CVs of key personnel, and evidence of FRMCS competencies. This call targets parties aiming to significantly contribute to the harmonization and synchronization of digital rail communication in Europe.
