Description

The SVS Sailing Trip II of the Sandra Völker Foundation offers an innovative therapeutic approach for children aged 12 to 15 with asthma from Berlin, Brandenburg, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and Schleswig-Holstein. From October 8 to 12, participants will experience a sailing trip on the historic "Berta" in the Baltic Sea under the motto "experience for yourself, activate yourself, be able to help yourself." The journey combines targeted asthma therapy with an allergy- and stress-reduced environment: doctors, therapists, and the experienced skipper crew introduce breathing techniques and relaxation methods in a playful manner. Another focus is on a balanced, self-prepared diet that raises awareness of healthy nutrition and aims to have a lasting impact in everyday life. The manageable number of a maximum of 16 child passengers allows for personal care and promotes interaction within the group.

With the SVS Sailing Trip II, the goal is to strengthen not only acute therapy but also prevention, personal responsibility, and self-confidence of the young participants. Medical and therapeutic supervision ensures safe implementation, while practical exercises on board focus on individual action. In a follow-up meeting, families also gain insight into the techniques learned to support a long-term symptom-free life. Applications are submitted by email with a brief introduction letter and a photo of the child. As a non-profit offering, the project is conducted in the form of a grant and is exclusively aimed at private individuals who meet the specified requirements. Interested families will receive a questionnaire and further information about the next steps upon receipt of the documents.
