Talent Film Funding (Board of Trustees of Young German Film)

The Talent Film Funding of the Kuratorium junger deutscher Film supports emerging directors, screenwriters, and producers nationwide in the realization of short and feature film projects. All genres are funded at the stages of material development, project development, and production. For feature films, up to €500,000 can be applied for, and for short films up to €40,000, while project developments are subsidized with up to €50,000 and material developments with up to €25,000. Approximately 400 applications are reviewed annually by independent selection committees. Successful projects benefit from dramaturgical guidance and organizational support from one of Germany’s oldest institutions for nurturing emerging film artists.

Interested individuals, companies, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions submit their documents in the form of an application form, funding guidelines, project description, and financing plan. The submission deadlines are set for feature film production funding on February 26, 2026 (6:00 p.m.) and for short film production funding on March 12, 2026 (6:00 p.m.). The next jury meeting for feature film projects will take place in calendar week 17, and for short film projects in calendar week 19. This uniquely nationwide funding program is regarded as an industry seal of quality and is specifically aimed at creative young talent seeking professional support from concept to premiere.
