Description
The Young German Film Board supports emerging projects in all cinematic genres with targeted grants for the phases of material development, project development, and production. Young filmmakers and founders from Germany can submit project ideas for funding of up to €25,000, with 2% withheld for administrative costs. Additionally, already funded projects receive limited supplementary funding for subtitling, distribution, and licensing. Central components of the funding include dramaturgical and organizational support from the Board as well as financial assistance to realize innovative stories from screenplay to finished film. The next submission deadline will be announced in January 2026.
Eligible applicants include companies, start-ups, private individuals, non-profit organizations, and public institutions with a German production focus. Application requirements include submitting a proposal for one of the three project stages, proof of film-related qualifications, and a German production location or corresponding company. Evaluation criteria are the quality and innovation of the material, artistic feasibility, and the support concept.
