Description
The TECTRANS program for promoting technology internationalization (2026–2030) targets Austrian technology providers and consulting service companies (SMEs) seeking to enter new markets outside the DACH region. Funding is provided for international market studies and freedom-to-operate analyses to enhance competitiveness in selected target countries. Personnel costs, third-party costs (e.g., consulting, translation, legal services), as well as material, equipment, and license costs (e.g., patent law expenses) are supported at 50%–80%, up to a maximum of €50,000. Projects do not need to have started in the DACH region prior to application and must demonstrate both technical quality and planning effort. Requirements include an operational base in Austria, eligibility criteria (including AGVO/De-minimis compliance), and a concrete internationalization plan. The project duration is up to 18 months (with a one-time extension option of 6 months). The application period is continuous from 01.01.2026 to 31.10.2027, with project start from 01.01.2026.
Two modules are available: The International Market Studies module supports the development of market analyses, competitive comparisons, and strategies for tenders or project initiations. The Freedom to Operate module aims to secure economic freedom to operate by validating, nationalizing relevant intellectual property rights, and conducting FTO analyses. Selection is based on formal and substantive evaluation by experts and a jury. Disbursement requires proof of use, including a factual report and supporting documentation. Non-eligible costs include ongoing consulting fees, overhead, land acquisition, construction investments, and costs incurred prior to application submission. TECTRANS thus makes a significant contribution to the sustainable strengthening of Austrian technology-oriented SMEs in global markets.
