Description
The Horizon Europe Innovation Action supports, within the framework of the Textiles for the Future partnership, the development and demonstration of novel processing and manufacturing technologies to significantly advance the circularity of the textile industry. The focus is on systemic approaches that enable efficient use of recycled, regenerated, and bio-based fibers as well as sustainable chemicals along the entire value chain. The goal is to achieve a significant reduction of virgin materials by 2035 and to support the market ramp-up of innovative textile alternatives. To lower market entry barriers, emancipatory business models and smart risk-sharing strategies are also being developed. In parallel, monitoring and assessment methods for biodiversity outcomes are adapted, quality requirements optimized, and training materials for designers, manufacturers, and recycling actors are prepared. Applicant consortia conduct open market dialogues, publish calls via TED, and involve at least three competing suppliers in the first phase to ensure competition and a high level of innovation.
Eligible for funding are consortia of public procurers from EU Member States or associated countries who act as Launch Customers deploying and validating new solutions in real production and application contexts. The funding amount is €4–6 million per project with a funding rate of up to 70% for research, prototyping, feasibility studies, and pilot trials. Cost-intensive production of end products as well as operating costs after market launch are not eligible for funding. Submission is single-stage by 02.02.2027; electronic submission system access will open from 22.09.2026. Key application documents include the Open Market Dialogue report, TED tender documents, as well as market analysis and specification documents. The European Commission reserves the right, following project selection, to review result transfers and exclusive licenses to sustainably strengthen strategic autonomy and the circular economy.
