Funding for the financing of measures for the thermal-energy renovation of owner-occupied homes and small garden houses with the aim of achieving specified minimum standards for heating energy demand or achieving savings of at least 40% of the reference heating energy demand.

Description
The Thermal-Energetic Renovation of Owner-Occupied Homes – Investment Grant in Vienna supports owners of single- and two-family houses as well as tenants of allotment garden residential houses who use their building as their main residence. The goal is to achieve defined minimum standards for heating energy demand (HWB-nstEG ≤ 1.45 or ≤ 1.30) or a reduction of at least 40% compared to the reference heating energy demand. From 01.03.2024, applications can be submitted indefinitely. Depending on the efficiency standard, flat-rate grants between €4,000 and €12,000 are awarded, up to a maximum of 35% of eligible expenses. The program equally contributes to energy efficiency, climate protection, and modern housing design, while strengthening urban infrastructure.
Eligible are significant renovation measures according to the Renovation and Decarbonization Ordinance, including thermal insulation, window replacement, heating system renewal, as well as expenses for energy certificates and planning services. Requirements include, among others, a building permit of at least 20 years (except for allotment garden residential houses), use as the main residence, and proof of eligible costs through invoices from authorized companies. Own labor and pure material costs are not recognized. For the application, a fully completed application form, cost estimates, official permits, energy certificates (before/after), existing plans, and certificates of the thermal transmittance coefficient of the windows must be submitted.
