Thuringian Library Award

Thuringian Library Award has been honoring outstanding library concepts in Thuringia since 2003. Under the patronage of the Thuringian Minister, the Sparkassen Cultural Foundation Hessen-Thuringia, together with the Thuringia Regional Association of the German Library Association e. V., annually awards this prize. Public and non-profit institutions can submit applications on an ongoing basis and receive financial support for the implementation of their innovative ideas in the fields of education, culture, training and further education, as well as culture & media. The award aims to sustainably promote and highlight exemplary concepts for the use, mediation, and presentation of literature as well as cultural offerings.

The prize is aimed at all library teams that strengthen social participation with creative programs, promote intergenerational exchange, and open up new approaches to literary design. Evaluation is based on the criteria of innovation, exemplary effect for other libraries, and sustainable feasibility. Through regular awarding, a platform is created on which best practices are presented and scalable models of library work are showcased. This award offers not only financial support but also media attention to emphasize the cultural significance of libraries within the state framework and to inspire future initiatives.
