Description
The Animal Feed Assistance of the Animal Protection Foundation in the Düren district supports low-income dog and cat owners in the Düren district through regular distribution of feed and additional subsidies. Using a mobile feed vehicle, needy pet owners are supplied free of charge or at heavily discounted rates with dry and wet food. Furthermore, the foundation covers 50% of the applicable dog tax and grants a 50% subsidy for the neutering of cats. The funding fully (100% funding rate) covers the aforementioned expenses and is ongoing, allowing funding applications to be submitted at any time. The goal is to enable pet ownership even in financial hardship, thereby promoting both animal welfare and climate protection through sustainable care.
To apply, an informal application with proof of primary residence in the Düren district, financial need (e.g., basic security or pension notice under €850), and proof of ownership of the animal (vaccination record) is sufficient. Required documents include, in addition to the social authority’s benefit notice, personal data and a justification of the hardship. After positive review, pet owners can present the feed directly at the feed vehicle, receive an authorization card valid for six months, and subsequently benefit from support on a monthly basis. The neutering and tax subsidies are applied for via copies of the respective notices and can be paid either directly to the responsible office or transferred to an account. This offer is exclusively aimed at dog and cat owners with primary residence in the Düren district and promotes the long-term maintenance of animal health and species-appropriate care.
