Description

The Top-Up Funding BBA2030 from the State of Vorarlberg supports operators of communication networks in expanding open access networks and doubling the existing download and upload speeds. With additional funds from the state, up to 25% of eligible project costs are reimbursed, provided a valid OpenNet funding contract with the FFG has been concluded. The goal is the comprehensive establishment of passive physical infrastructure that can be expanded to symmetrical gigabit speeds under peak load conditions without further investments. Both commercial companies and cooperatives as well as public institutions, non-profit organizations, and start-ups that are not active in the end-customer market for electronic communication services are eligible for funding.

The call for proposals is ongoing from March 23, 2022, until the available volume is exhausted. A prerequisite for application is the investment location in Vorarlberg as well as proof of a positive funding decision within the framework of the federal initiative Broadband Austria 2030: OpenNet. The application must include, among other documents, the funding contract signed by both parties, a detailed project description with cost and planning documents, and, if applicable, a consortium agreement. The funds are paid out cashlessly in the form of non-repayable grants, whereby the maximum total funding rate according to the federal guideline must not exceed 90%. The project start is possible from September 1, 2024; the Vorarlberg Department of General Economic Affairs (VIa) is responsible for professional support as well as the processing and disbursement of the funding.
