International TV and film productions are supported to strengthen the positioning of Styria as a tourism destination. For this purpose, the Film Commission and the Cinestyria Fund operate, which, after review by an expert advisory board, make recommendations to the Styrian State Government regarding the allocation.

Description
The Tourism Film Funding aims to support international TV and film productions in the implementation of their projects in Styria, thereby positioning the region as an attractive tourist destination. Applications can be submitted indefinitely and on an ongoing basis; a professional review by the advisory board of Cinestyria – Film Commission and Fund takes place prior to the recommendation to the Styrian State Government. Funding is provided to companies in the media sector that wish to realize their filming, production infrastructure, and creative concepts in Styria. This fosters domestic as well as international collaborations that sustainably strengthen the region’s presence in image and sound.
Eligible for funding are national and international production companies, producers, and film crews who can present well-founded project documentation. A prerequisite for a grant is a fully submitted application as well as a positive assessment by the tourism department. The required documents include, among others, the Cinestyria application form, a current company register excerpt, annual financial statements, synopsis/exposé, screenplay including proof of rights, directing concept, schedule and shooting plan, as well as a detailed evaluation concept. Additionally, evidence of the Styrian connection and a coherent financing plan must be submitted. The funding is granted as a non-repayable subsidy and enables tailored support for projects that make the cultural profile and tourist image of Styria visible.
