Description
The funding aims at the temporary establishment of Ludwig Boltzmann Institutes (LBIs) in Vienna to initiate transnational research collaborations between universities and non-academic actors. As non-university research structures, the LBIs are jointly operated by educational institutions, companies, public administrations, and non-profit organizations. The focus is on innovative models of cooperation between science and industry, administration, and civil society, which are developed and tested within the framework of the National Foundation for Research, Technology & Development (NSFTE). The funding is provided as a direct grant and supports the development of new forms of cooperation that extend beyond national borders and promote interdisciplinary approaches to solutions.
Interested partners must meet the requirements of the FTE National Foundation Act and undergo the coordination process with the responsible specialized departments as well as the Council for Research and Technology Development. Applications can be submitted continuously until the available budget is exhausted. The establishment of a Ludwig Boltzmann Institute offers a platform for academic-practical cooperation, where application-oriented research projects are jointly designed and implemented. Potential grantees are encouraged to expand intersectoral networks and make sustainable contributions to the knowledge society.
